Axe/hatchet...i fell off my chair. you goof!

you know, our mat might be narrow, but so is a residence bed. I'd forgotten.

You and lesbians. What IS that about. Me and Mike Geoghegan want to know. (for others, see Mike's comment on recent Tyee girls kissing girls movie review). I think it's fear of, you know, hetero intimacy, but then again, maybe you just like short hair, good musculature and hardy faces. Perhaps you should take up rock climbing?

Glad that a cat joined you in the pub, compared to those dogs that apparently just live off human largesse, unlike cats. Here on UVic campus, cats and dogs would rejoice, and eat well, as it is full of bunnies...er, the non-human kind Barry. Down boy. Anyway they hop about and are fed carrots by ESL girls, the human kind, Barry. Up Boy.

As for reading, I'm reading Ralston co-Gov General Saul right now, and finding him annoying, pompous and sophomoric. Anyone want to defend his royal otherness?

Cool piece

Cath and I managed to camp alone for the first time since the birth of the kids - did a one nighter in the woods near Whistler after Dan's wedding.

Ax - large enough useful
Hachet - child's toy of something to make kindling with if you have small pieces already.

As to defending JRS - I found his attempt to discuss his latest book on the radio bad enough that I can not stomach the idea of reading the connected book.

So, when are you coming to Victoria?

Hello, i just randoming googled galiano island and i ended up on ur blog. I actually went to galiano over the summer. i definately love the place and i agree with you how its a bit boring. but i would suggest you going to retreat cove caves the next time you go. you should visit these caves at around sunset time. it has got to be the most beautiful and peaceful thing ive seen in british columbia in the last 15 years. you can also go mopeding around the island and check out the views. you can rent mopeds are the montague harbour for really cheap. Oh another fun thing to do would be to go kayaking and check out the other little islands around galiano. you'd be amazed to see big houses on some of the surrounding islands. When i went to galiano i stayed at captains quarters just almost at the north end of the island. we stayed there cause my boyfriend was making a website for the owner of the cabin there. a really nice place to stay. i think if i get the chance, i'll go back again next year and just relax on the beaches again. i hope you had a great time there!

Why the comments about boring? I wonder what people are expecting to do when they go to an island, especially if one is camping.

Here is what we do:

*We hike- there are tons of great places: with amazings views, or down near the beach, or through the forests.
* We swim.
* We kayak.
* We rent scooters and go around the island. Sometimes we bike.
* We visit the little shops. We visit the book store and the library. The bakery. The ice cream shop. The trinket shops in town and the marina.
* We golf (great meals there too).
* We explore different beaches with our trusty map.
* We hang out with people and have meals. BBQ seafood with beer is especially ideal!
* We fish. Sometimes we buy fresh fish down at the harbour.
* We explore the sea life at the shore.
* We visit the farmers market on Saturdays. Go to the night marine show in the summer. Take in the wine festival. Visit the art galleries.
* We take in a yoga class. Visit some garage sales.
* We buy some local food at the Daymarket and have a picnic at the beach.
* At night we eat out at one of many good restaurants on the island, hang at the pub, and go to one of several places with live bands (at least one of which we can usually dance at!

I wonder what you were hoping for and missing. I mean that as a genuine question, not to be controversial. It is true there are no malls or theatres, but I wonder what there you wish you had but saw was missing.
